In terms of romance, as others said, it's very minimal and mostly just hinted. Don't underestimate people being shameless and selfish, especially in time of disaster, they'll look for anyone to blame their hard life. All her preparation were proven right as another lord character who disclose their identity faced many harassment and undue blame. more> their craft and trade with each other, letting life players also have incomes. One would say she put high price for system items, but it actually push the economy, people started to pick up.

Yes, many died, but those who survived in her city all knew how to feed themselves one way or another because they earn that life. Although some may say she's cruel for being passive when everyone was dying, I don't think she's cold by being a bystander most of the time. The MC isn't exactly the devil but wasn't exactly an angel as well. I can always trust Dreams of Jianghu to pick a non-offensive, calm (?), lighthearted story that I can enjoy! It's a short one, unique, and funny enough to get some chuckles occasionally.

It might become a bit boring or monotonous with the constantly mentioned NPC shop refresh and frequent time-skipping. Some cons I felt were that there wasn't much character development with our MC almost breezing through 'content'.

There were some noble sacrifices made later on that would have otherwise been quite sad but with the reality of the "game-esque" vibe to the whole story there were no tears shed. I noticed some reviews mention romance there is just a smidge and really only sort of teased at the end. I can understand that feeling of satisfaction. That nagging feeling with the need to stock up on everything on the off chance that maybe it might come in handy later or become more expensive. Hack// (if you're old enough to remember that one).īeing a fellow hoarder in all the games I play, I can resonate strongly with our MC. more> genre like those of Sword Art Online or. If I had to label it, it's similar to the Japanese. You're never not reminded that it's a game though. I will say though that it does "gameify" the story quite a bit which might not sit right with some people when it comes to human life. Colony Sims are my absolute favourite type of game so this story checked some pretty big boxes for me that I didn't know I wanted until I stumbled upon this one. Pretty good! It was a more unique take which I enjoyed a lot. Most of these people from other pov's don't just disappear but they're also mostly not integral to the story so they do fade after the POV switches.Įnding felt like a bit of a cop out, but other than that it's good:

I actually really love the survival aspect more than like full on action or fighting so it suited my tastes more that way. Because the MC is so relaxed due to her op setting, you almost feel like you're reading one of those kingdom building games but fortunately the tension is brought back by other side characters sometimes. I adore some of them and want others to disappear. The game is super interesting and it frequently jumps POV so you can see what it's like for people outside the territory or people who are living at the bottom of the territory's social class or whatever. She reminds me of a squirrel with how much she continues to stockpile lmao. She mainly does stuff for her own benefit like she helps the players gain materials because she wants to hoard them under the name of 'system collection'. She's also definitely not cruel as she saves people multiple times and even helps people learn how to live without fighting, but also she's definitely not altruistic. MC hides her identity as the city lord from the start to avoid trouble which is super smart otherwise it'd be a pain.

The romance is vaguely hinted at and we definitely know who the ML is but they never actually get together though it's alluded to at the end sort of that they continue to meet or rather the ML is sort of pursuing her (explained at end spoiler). They're super great and it's definitely a territory building-esque novel with little romance. Lmao I love the mc's hoarding tendencies lol.
